This has been a bizarre and wild NBA season. First off,  the craziest free agency ever in July. Then: Every star imaginable decided to drop out of Team USA and we got embarrassed in FIBA. The Daryl Morey tweet which ignited the China controversy. The ratings have been down all season. The absence of some of the game’s best and most recognizable players (KD, Steph, Kyrie, Klay, Zion for half the season) due to injury. The five-time defending Western conference champions being obliterated by injuries and becoming the worst team in the NBA fielding a G-League roster. The Houston Rockets deciding to take small ball to another level by literally not having a center in their rotation and not playing anyone over 6’7.
The completely shocking and unexpected death of one of the greatest players who ever lived, Kobe Bryant. Then it gets even worse as we find out his 13-year old daughter and 7 others also lost their lives. The NBA decided at the last second to change the All-Star format, which left some fans confused and/or wondering why the gimmick was needed. Then it turns out to be the most exciting ending to an all star game ever. The Milwaukee Bucks are on pace to have the third greatest regular season in NBA history, and it has largely gone under the radar as the main focus from the media has mostly been about the LA teams, Philly, and Houston. Now we have the looming coronavirus. Hopefully this won’t end up being a major storyline in the NBA but it’s hard to imagine it won’t be given that it is the number one topic in the world right now. The death of former commissioner David Stern. OKC trading their two all stars and having a better season.
