Jimmy Butler and JJ Redick expose Sixers lack of accountability and leadership from the front office to coaching staff and discuss the infamous blow up with Brett Brown. (Transcribed from JJ Redick Pod)

JJ Redick: Was last year difficult?

Jimmy Butler: Yeah, hell yeah, it was so different, on any given day me as a person and player i didnt know who the fuck was in charge or what to expect when i went to the gym plane or game....i was as lost as the next motherfucker.

JJ: "meaning there was a lot of voices"...

JB: there was just so much going on every day, i didnt even know who to talk to. i realised that in the meeting in the office i was like i cannot believe (brett brings me you joe and ben in pre tobias trade)...and we all sitting in there and nothing got accomplished at all, so i told you when we were walking out "why would i go back in there, nothing is getting accomplished, we are just sitting in here watching film, all just looking around, you gotta think i may have been there 2-3 weeks tops so im just sitting back watchign and not saying nothing....these mofos think im an asshole anyway so im gona sit back and i can here 'click click' then alright lets go practice and im thinking why did we just go through this....so now we fast forward and we are in portland during the film session and nobody is saying nothing, so i decided to finally say something…

JJ: "heres the fucked up part you did one thing wrong, i thought your intereaction with brett was normal and i dont know why it was reported weird, but he’s like, “theres some tweeks to the offense we’re making”, and some guys feel the same way you do and you threw TJ under the bus…you said "tj wants more pick and rolls"...I did not say TJ...

JB: brett asked who else feels differently so i heard crickets and knew people felt different so i turned around and the first person i locked eyes with was TJ, and monty said ""nows the time if you feel different" and TJ started...and i thought "its ok to speak your mind".

JJ: you know how i feel about brett and i love brett but your relationship was not the same, towards the end of the year when you were playing on the ball more did that relationship evolve more,...

JB: "i would say it remained professional but i would say its not fair cos the entire year ben had the ball, and then youre going to do that, i would feel a type of way if you took the ball out of my hands like that (like ben was) I would think its fucked up to play one way the entire year and then go boom you know what this is how we are going to do it. i would be pissed, i dont think it was the best way to do it.....

JJ: when that kawhi shot went it what were you thinking.

JB: "i already knew how it would have ended up if we went to overtime, we would have won. after everything settles down the first thing that comes to mind is will i be back here, get another opportunity to do it, i had a feeling it would be a no, but i would say thats the first thing "are we actually going to run it back"...

JJ: that was my first thought too - the realisation i might not get this close again, I knew I wasnt coming back at the exit meeting unlesss they had no other options, when did you know?

JB: do you think im just that hard to work with? (no i dont think youre hard to work with)....so I aint throwing no one under the bus but somebody told me the main reason i didnt go back was cos someone asked can you control jimmy, the fact youre trying to control a grown man i was like nah im cool, cos i dont do anything drastically stupid, if thats what youre worried about i think man good luck to you all (this was super early before free agency). When i heard about miami, we talked about it as a family and it all worked out. the way they do shit "we work every single day" we expect you to come in and win.

JJ: you seem much happier. JB -hell yeah, i get to be me, i aint worried about peopel trying to control me, thats some fucked up shit. More Miami talk.

JJ: do you think teams can have too many alphas?

JB: well whats your definition of alpha? you talking about really good players? (No, the person who has to be the star.) "too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing, but if you know which one is really the one it can work if everyone plays their role. but if everyone doesnt know whats going on in any certain day it wont work. Spo will walk in and yell at duncan "what the fuck are you dribbling inside the 3 pt line".

JJ: I feel like someone saying I dont know my role is code for I dont like my role.

JB: I agree.
