Kamala Harris' Twitter Account Is A Return To Obama Years

The people handling her account are doing an excellent job, it reads just like Barack Obama's Presidential Twitter it's like reading through whitehouse.gov during the Obama Years, scrolling through it has a weird 2009-2014ish feel

The arts, public television, libraries, and museums all enrich the soul, educate the mind, and can open up a world of possibilities to young children. But Trump’s budget threatens to slash $897 million in funding for these programs — including completely defunding PBS and NPR.

After a historic effort in Florida to restore voting rights to about 1.4 million formerly incarcerated individuals, Republican lawmakers are attempting to limit their right to vote.

Devastating news out of the Midwest with rivers overflowing, roads swept away, and homes underwater. We can’t help folks affected by these historic floods without acknowledging our failure to stabilize crumbling infrastructure across this country.

It's common sense to put carbon monoxide detectors in HUD housing, protecting the lives of millions of residents. Thank you, @Rep_Pendarvis, for urging Congress to pass this critical bill.

Our nation's leaders should have acted to end gun violence after Sandy Hook. After Charleston. After San Bernardino. After Pulse. After Sutherland Springs. After Las Vegas. After the Tree of Life Synagogue. After Parkland. After Thousand Oaks. How many more?

World-renowned ballerina Maria Tallchief was repeatedly told she should change her name so dance companies wouldn’t discriminate against her because of her Native American ancestry. She refused, and would go on to become America's first major prima ballerina. #WomensHistoryMonth

Of the 40 million family caregivers in the U.S., one in four are millennials. Guaranteed paid family leave would support families, protect workers, assist those taking on the role as caregiver, and give financial security for future generations.

My heart is heavy with grief for New Zealand & Muslims worldwide affected by the tragic murders in Christchurch. The massacre of those in a house of worship, in prayer, is evil & cowardly. We stand with our friends around the world to condemn hate & speak out against intolerance.

Vile acts of anti-Semitism and hatred have no place in our nation. We must call out and condemn them.

Congress could pass one of the most massive anti-corruption bills in modern history and put the power back into the hands of the people. H.R. 1 is our chance to remove distrust and injustice from our elections by getting big money out of politics and strengthening voting rights.

Attacking a leader who has fought on behalf of workers his whole life, instead of holding a company accountable for closing factories is blatantly misguided and anti-worker.

We need to act quickly and confront our contribution to climate change or face devastating, irreversible damage to our planet — including millions of people dying prematurely.

In 1973, tennis player Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in the highly anticipated “Battle of the Sexes” match, earning respect for women’s tennis. The U.S. Open started offering equal prize money to men and women thanks to her gender equality efforts. #WomensHistoryMonth

Puerto Rico resident Valeria Delgado Rivera may be forced to eat only breakfast and dinner after these cuts. “The only help I get for buying food is from this program. Of course I’m scared.”

It’s devastating how our government failed our citizens.

Born in Florida, educator and anthropologist Johnnetta Cole was the first Black woman to become president of Spelman College, a historically Black college for women. She has dedicated her life to furthering the education of young girls and advancing the diversity of African arts.

Today in 1965, Lyndon B. Johnson called for legislation guaranteeing equal voting rights for every American. More than 50 years later, that struggle continues. As President, I’d support making Election Day a national holiday, expanding early voting, and automatic registration.

Later today I will vote to block Trump’s manufactured emergency declaration. We don’t need a wall, we need a president who will address actual emergencies plaguing our people — climate change, gun violence, and the opioid crisis just to name a few.

An unexpected trip to the hospital shouldn’t land you in bankruptcy court. Yet more than 40% of adults say they don’t have enough cash to cover a $400 emergency expense. Middle-class Americans deserve a break. The LIFT Act would raise incomes for working families up to $500/mo.

A federal paid leave program would ensure Americans have the opportunity to be caregivers and providers for their loved ones without worrying about income security and how to make ends meet. Congress must commit to passing the FAMILY Act.

A woman is five times more likely to be killed during a domestic violence situation if a gun is present. When we fight for universal background checks, we’re fighting to keep guns out of dangerous abusers’ hands, protect women, and save lives.

Congress has an opportunity to pass H.R. 1, legislation to preserve our democracy. Voting rights are on the line. Our elections are on the line. Our country is on the line. This is a matter of fighting #ForThePeople and we need to commit to it.

The Trump Administration ended a policy that prohibited detaining pregnant women in immigrant detention centers last March. That’s not just immoral, it’s dangerous. My colleagues and I introduced a bill to end this cruel practice.

Never forget that at the core of any civil rights movement, you will find powerful women as major leaders. Voting rights activist Amelia Boynton helped organize the Selma to Montgomery march to protest disenfranchisement, where she was beaten unconscious.

The Trump Administration's attempt to undo equal pay requirements was struck down by a federal judge. With these requirements reinstated, roughly 60,800 employers who employ 63 million workers will be able to be held accountable.

We can’t ignore the risks of outdated voting infrastructure. Congress must pass our bipartisan bill to fortify and upgrade our election systems so we can protect our elections from future attacks by Russia and other foreign powers. There’s not a moment to waste.

Detaining infants is beyond cruel. This Administration's approach isn't border security; it's a human rights abuse. We are better than this.

Big insurance companies and Big Pharma are already hiring lobbyists to try to stop us from passing Medicare for All. But I’ve got news for them: we won’t back down. Health care is a right, not a privilege, and we need a system that puts patients ahead of profits.

Systemic inequities have led to mass incarceration and a broken criminal justice system. We need to address this. We should invest in prevention and implement sentencing reforms. That’s what I’ll do as president. Watch our discussion today on @amjoyshow

As Attorney General of California, I took on the five biggest Wall Street banks during the financial crisis. We won $20 billion for California homeowners and together we passed the strongest anti-foreclosure law in the United States of America.

What’s happening in Venezuela is a crisis. The people who have fled Maduro’s dictatorial regime deserve safety and protection. As President, I would immediately extend TPS status to Venezuelans. It’s the right thing to do. America must show moral leadership in this hemisphere.

The fight for a $15 minimum wage is a fight for fairness, freedom, opportunity, and more. It’s a fight for an equal playing field — and a fight we can win.

A living wage is an antidepressant. It is a sleep aid. A diet. A

It prevents premature death. It shields children from neglect.
