The Senate Republicans actually pushed the lie "everyone wanted Comey fired for refusing to lock up Hillary so when Trump asked that he be fired to end the Russia investigation it wasn't obstruction of justice because nobody liked him anyway!"
Plenty of evidence that Trump acts on Russia's behalf. Failure to enforce sanctions is right up there. The Helsinki summit is another. Leaking classified Israeli intelligence to the Russian ambassader is another. And with that "I'm not aware of" in response to Putin holding leverage proves Barr did NOT actually read the report. There’s literally an paragraph about this issue (the pee tape which is Putin's leverage over Trump).
