Elon Musk's suspension reversals | The tables below show notable Twitter suspension reversals for each day since Elon Musk took over as owner and CEO.

All dates indicate when the suspension or reversal was detected, and the actual suspension or reversal may have been earlier. For most English-language accounts with large followings, this lag will generally not be longer than a few hours, but for accounts that have a small number of followers or that are outside the networks we are tracking, the difference can be larger, and in some cases an account on the list may have had its suspension reversed before 27 October 2022. These dates will get more precise as we refine the report.

Note that only reversals of permanent suspensions are shown, not instances of accounts being unlocked after being restricted for rule violation.

In some cases we do not have suspension detection dates (these are accounts that are known to have been suspended before February 2022).

How the report works

This report is built on the same data collection system as this project, which tracks Twitter suspensions and screen name changes. The system monitors follower and friend lists for a set of seed accounts, and when an account either falls off of or appears on one of those lists, it is evaluated as a potential suspension or suspension reversal.

If an account appears on this report, that means that it had first been identified as suspended (not self-deactivated, and not locked by Twitter), and then later identified as unsuspended. The specific dates provided here for suspensions and unsuspensions are inherently inexact, since Twitter doesn't provide this information to third-party observers.

This report additionally scrapes recent tweets for accounts that are identified as suspension reversals. In some cases this lets us find a more precise time of reinstatement, but it's slow (because of API rate limits), and is still running for some of these accounts.
